CLC believe that church happens on more than Sunday. We are called to committed to an active prayer life, keep being grounded in scripture, live in community – but the community is not just us – it is the neighborhood – need to be listening and looking – should come with curiosity not judgement those different. Sunday morning is a time of renewal refilling to go out into the world around us. We realize that we have a unique perspective – one filled with hope and love in response to despair and fear, which manifest in hate. Celebrate holy community every week – all are welcome – open table – the only requirement is a desire to receive God’s grace. Our Mission“Christ Lutheran Church welcomes all who are seeking God’s love and grace. We welcome all because God welcomes all, regardless of race or culture, sexual orientation, gender identity or relationship status. We welcome all without regard to addictions, physical or mental health, socioeconomic circumstances or anything that too often divides us. We are committed to worshiping God, nurturing and caring for one another and equipping our members for witness and service in the world.” A Reconciling in Christ CongregationOur BeliefsChrist Lutheran Church professes and believes that Jesus Christ is God, who came to earth as a man and walked and lived among us. His teaching and healing show us how to live today. He joins us in death, as he died on a cross, but was raised again, offering us the promise of joining him in eternal life. We believe Jesus Christ is still actively working in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit we are given the ability to believe God’s teaching and accept God’s forgiveness. Christ Lutheran Church professes and believes that all are made worthy by Jesus’ life and death, not by our own merit. There is nothing we can do to save ourselves from our sinful human nature; only God’s grace, shown through God’s constant love and mercy, brings us into right relationship with God. Because God loves us so completely, we are made free to love our neighbors courageously. Christ Lutheran Church professes and believes we are called to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, welcome the stranger, care for the sick and visit the imprisoned (Matthew 25:34-36). Jesus has commanded us to serve boldly, and in our context, we believe that service includes the LGBTQ community, the homeless in San Clemente, and any person who has been displaced by addiction, mental illness or other life circumstances. You do not need to be a baptized Lutheran to feel welcome. Our congregation includes Roman Catholics, Presbyterians, Baptists and those who have never attended church in their lives. Christ Lutheran Church professes and believes the teachings of the Holy Bible, the Apostle’s Creed, the Small and Large Catechism of Martin Luther and the Augsburg Confessions. We celebrate Holy Communion every week and wish to make it accessible for more people by offering gluten-free and non-alcoholic options.
