The CLC Book Club’s book for May is “Gilead” by Marilynne Robinson. In 1956, toward the end of his life, Rev. John Ames begins a letter to his young son, an account of himself and his pacifist father and grandfather, a chaplain in the Union Army.

Abolitionists vs. slave owners, sacred bonds and tensions between fathers and sons are just two of the themes that make this Pulitzer Prize winner powerful and moving. We will meet on Wednesday, May 26, at 6 p.m. via Zoom for fellowship and a good discussion. Contact Judy Franz ( to be added to the Zoom invite list. Read on!
